Chapter 9
• Jonas tells himself several times that things can’t change between him and his best friend, Asher. Do you think they can? Do you think they will? I think it will because all his 12 years he had been learning about honesty and all of a sudden he is going to lie,it might take some time for his friends to figure out he’s lying.
• Why does Jonas find the final rule in his instructions, “You may lie,” so unsettling? Because he had learned honesty all his life and all of a sudden just starts lying,he also think that if he lies his social life will change completely.
Chapter 10
• What do you think it means to live in a place where no doors are ever locked? I think that it would be horrible because you never know when someone can break into your house
• Jonas says, “I thought there was only us. I thought there was only now.” Do you think that’s a good way to live? No his community cannot live in no contact with the rest of the world it is very wrong to do so.
