Why was Jonas skipped

I think Jonas was skipped because maybe because his parents told the elders of Joneses nervousness of the ceremony and that lead him to either be last or get a special job.After all his father is going to be part of a committee.The other conclusion i thought made sense was that mabaye the elder skipped Jonas on purpose because she knew that Jonas was scared,but something else i thought is that Jonas was acting quite peculiar so the elders saw how he acted and thought lets leave him for last.I think they left him for last because i think he might get a job that he likes for example Caretaker,nurturer.
